Ten Songs To Listen To While Coming Up With Lists of Ten Songs To Listen To:1. Barry Goldberg "I Think I'm Gonna Cry"
--a wonderful organ player and a fine songwriter. the second side of this album ["Blasts From My Past"] is great.
2. Miss Abrams & The Strawberry Point 4th Grade Class "Buildin' A Heaven On Earth"
--from a somewhat forgotten and curious record which came out in the early 1970s by a school teacher from Mill Valley, CA. always puts a smile on my face and reminds me of home.
3. Brenton Wood "Baby You Got It"
--one of my favorite voices. great hard-panned stereo arrangement of a perfectly simple and addictive song.
4. Roger Shriver "Life Is Like A River"
--the mellowest of mellow moments on another wonderful and unsung album.
5. Sonoko "Wedding With God"
--captivatingly strange and otherworldly song by this Japanese singer from the always interesting Crammed label. this album is one of my favorites.
6. The Beau Brummels "Sad Little Girl"
--great harmonies by the San Francisco's original response to the Fab Four. folk-rock at it's finest.
7. John Cale "Cleo"
--one of Cale's catchiest tunes from his first solo outing. backed by Grinder's Switch (of Garland Jeffreys' notoriety). great piano playing.
8. Skeeter Davis "Optimistic"
--i could listen to Skeeter sing all day long. my favorite female country singer.
9. Jeffrey Cain "Mockingbird"
--great album on the Youngblood's Racoon imprint. the shambolic groove of this tune is a doozy.
10. John Compton "Look Out"
--total Bearsville session vibe from the former Appaloosa member and partner of Robin Batteau on the classic Compton & Batteau album. loose and fluid playing and great songs.
